Where The Light Shines Through
Life Is Hard
Life can get heavy, and sometimes it feels like the darkness is winning. But even in the hardest moments, light breaks through. That’s the thread running through creation. There’s no pit too deep, no wound too raw, no heart too far gone. And somehow, the cracks in our lives become the very place His light breaks in and sets us free.
“Your scars shine like dark stars.
Your wounds are where the light shines through”
WHERE THE LIGHT SHINES THROUGH - SWITCHFOOT
Some days are meh… and some days are magical. The wispy clouds became a canvas for God’s light to shine through, painting the red rocks of Garden of the Gods with awe.
I drove out to Lindon, Colorado hoping to catch the Aurora, but it never really showed. Instead, I found this quiet little church glowing under stormy skies and fading light. The warmth, the stillness, the surprise of lightning in the distance—it wasn’t what I came to shoot, but it was everything I needed to see. Sometimes the best moments are when the light shines through in ways you don’t expect.
By myself, spending time with the Creator — just me, the stillness, and the light breaking through.
Places like this feel like home. Out here, I don’t have to perform or prove anything—I can just be still. It’s where I remember who I am, Who I belong to, and how light has a way of finding me again.
The things we do to find peace. For this rower, it was this lake. Each morning as we camped nearby, I watched him glide across the glassy surface — his rhythm unhurried, his focus quiet. It’s where he found solace. Where he found rest. I find it capturing these moments — reminders of something bigger, something bright enough to calm the noise.
Every fall, I’m reminded how light can turn ordinary moments into something worth stopping for. These aspens caught it just right — glowing from the inside out.
Living by the Front Range, you get used to the familiar view. But the San Juans remind me that there’s always more — more light, more beauty, more wonder waiting just beyond what I’ve grown used to.
Leadville was showing off. This bridge surrounded by gold was one of my favorite stops from this trip — where the light poured through the aspens like a quiet celebration of fall.
A clear morning at Pikes Peak. The light catching fresh snow on the summit felt like a quiet reminder that new seasons always find their way in.
This old silo’s been part of my backyard view for years, but every once in a while the light shows up and reminds me how even the familiar can still surprise you.
