Soaked in the Plains

Out on the Eastern Plains, the peace is heavy. It’s a place where the horizon stretches much further than your eyes can really follow, and buildings or people are a rare sight.

I watched as these irises caught the light, while others nearby sat in the cooling shadows. It didn’t feel like the ones in the dark were missing out—it just felt like a singular opportunity for these few to be completely soaked in the sun. There is a quiet intentionality in that kind of timing; a moment where the light finds exactly what it needs to reveal.
